To receive a weekend badge and access to all volunteer perks, you must complete at least 12 hours of volunteer time. These hours can be spread across Thursday to Sunday to fit your schedule.
For example, if you're attending three days, you can volunteer for 4 hours each day. If you're only attending Saturday and Sunday, you'll need to volunteer for 8 hours on one day and 4 on the other.
Shifts are flexible, and we'll work with you to find times that match your availability!
Convention Setup/Breakdown - assisting prior to or after the convention with tables, chairs, boxes, etc. Setup and breakdown is on Thursday and Sunday.
Registration - distributing badges, assisting guests who did not pre-pay get registered, answering questions.
Merch Booth - assisting with setup, restocking, and sales of convention merchandise. Responsibilities may include handling transactions, organizing inventory, helping guests find sizes or items, and keeping the booth area clean and welcoming.
Runner - General errand runner helping stock water and snack areas, taking small equipment between panel rooms, etc.
Boardgame Librarian - re-shelving games, checking for missing pieces, monitoring room; teaching rules to specific games and making recommendations would be nice-to-have, though not required.
Manager/Assistant – helping convention leadership with tasks such as running errands, delivering messages or materials, checking in with volunteers, and assisting with on-the-fly needs throughout the day. Must be flexible, reliable, and ready to jump in wherever help is needed.
Parking Attendant - monitoring entry of attendees, answering basic questions, and helping direct guests to appropriate parking or drop-off areas.

Most volunteer shifts are scheduled in 4-hour blocks, though the exact timing may vary depending on the role. You may be assigned to a single task or a combination of duties during your shift..
We’re also flexible, if you’d prefer to volunteer longer in one day to free up time to enjoy the rest of the con, we’re happy to accommodate that when scheduling. Just include your preference in your application, and we’ll do our best to make it work!
Want to spend the weekend helping behind the scenes instead of attending?
Full-weekend volunteer roles are available for those who love being part of the action and don’t mind skipping events - they come with extra perks and our deepest thanks! If you’re excited to go above and beyond, we’ve got extra perks waiting for you! Volunteers who put in more than the required 12 hours can earn bonus merchandise, free lunches, and other special rewards.

We are not going to require extensive board game knowledge or an ability to teach or demo games. Ideally we would love to have volunteers here with a passion for helping others play games as well as assisting the head librarian.

Our QuestCon Committee members will be reviewing volunteer applications regularly, then reaching out via your listed preferred contact method in order to schedule a brief interview, mostly to answer any questions you might have and confirm which shift types you will be working. The last step before finalizing your shift will be a background check, which is required for everyone working the convention.
