THE SOLAR CROWN MINIATURE PAINTING COMPETITION AT QUEST CON 2025!

We’re thrilled to unveil the first annual Solar Crown miniature painting competition at QuestCon 2025. Whether you're a seasoned painter or a passionate newcomer, this event is your chance to showcase creativity, skill, and style. Join us for a celebration of miniature artistry that promises inspiration for participants and spectators alike.

OVERVIEW & DETAILS

The Solar Crown is a brand and genre agnostic miniature painting competition - meaning all miniature ranges are welcome! As long as your entry fits within one of our competition categories and follows our family-friendly display guidelines, you're good to go. Because displays will be open to the general public, and we’ll have a Youth category for painters under 16, entries featuring nudity or excessive, realistic gore will not be permitted.
(Stylized or cartoonish elements are fine - we love creativity, just keep it appropriate for all ages!)

SCHEDULE

Entries will be accepted on-site at the competition display from Friday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Participants may submit one entry per category, but are welcome to enter multiple categories.

Judging will take place on Saturday evening, with winners announced shortly after.

All entries will be available for pickup on Sunday. All entries must be picked up by 5:00 PM on Sunday! While we’ll do our best to safeguard any unclaimed pieces, we cannot guarantee their condition during transport or storage. If shipping is required, it will be the responsibility of the entrant, Any shipping costs must be covered by the owner.

RETRIEVAL

Entries must be picked up in person on Sunday by the individual who completed the competition registration.

If you’d like someone else to collect your entry, you must designate them during registration. We’ll be checking IDs to ensure the person picking up matches the registered owner or approved designee.

This policy helps us protect your work and ensures that no one walks away with someone else’s miniature!

JUDGING

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of experienced judges using a clear and objective scoring rubric.

The judging will take place in two phases:

  1. Initial Round: Judges will review all entries to identify the leading submissions in each category.

  2. Final Round: The top entries will then be examined in greater detail to determine the Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners for each category.

Once category judging is complete, each Gold winner will move on to a final round of evaluation to determine the Best in Show!
